I'm Ashley Rix and I was born in Murray, Utah. I moved three times between Kindergarten and First grade and have been living in Logan, Utah since Second grade. My father is a bit Danish and Native American whereas my mother is English and Yugoslavian. I'm kind of a mut. I don't have an immigration story like Teresa's, but I do appreciate other cultures coming to America and bringing their lives and stories here.
My name is Michelle Dastrup. I grew up in St. George, Utah which is where I spent the first eleven years of my life. My family then moved to Logan when I was starting 6th grade. My great, great, great Grandpa came to the United States from Dastrup, Denmark (which explains the weird last name). My mothers ancestors came from England with the pilgrims. I am also 1/16 Native American from the Cherokee tribe in the Appalachians which is why I have a deep love for the south. I love the United States, I am a proud American, and grateful to call it home. However, I LOVE to travel and see other parts of the world first hand. My favorite country I've been to so far is Mexico. I have fallen in love with the people and the food!!! After my brother came home from living there for two years, we make him cook authentic food for us every Sunday!
My name is Jose David Alvarado, but I've gone by David my whole life. I was born in North Hollywood, California, and lived there till I was twelve. My parents are both from El Salvador, and came to the united states illegally. My dad flew to the United States so he had it easy. My mother on the other hand had to travel by land, so her story about coming to the united states is a little different. She had to go days without eating and walked for hundreds of miles, and she did it so that I would have a better life, so I am very thankful my mother. My parents have lived in the united states for about 20 years now, and now they are both citizens of the United States. I've visited El Salvador, and every time it makes me realize how lucky and bless I am to be a United States citizen. I believe if immigrants like parents come to this country for a better life, and to work hard, they should be given citizenship or at least aloud to live here. Sadly, there is a lot of immigrants who come and commit crimes, so it gives everyone a bad name, which makes it hard for the government to every immigrant citizenship.
